Did you just invent this term? I love it!
Work is a bad idea. Jobs are a worse idea. No one actually wants to work; we wish to learn, to explore, to play, to create, and to serve in ways that express our talents and passions to the betterment of others.
We will soon live in a world where jobs are vanishing at an accelerating pace. Superstars and hobbyists give us clues as to what comes next.
Superstars, in all fields, do not work. They play, and play very hard indeed, at games of their own choosing or design. It just looks like work to those of us who are unable to conceive of playing that hard.
I have the quotes to prove it.
Hobbyists do things, perhaps not at a stellar level of excellence, but with joy. When I grow tomatoes, I have no illusions of being a craftsman hybrid designer. Neither do I need these fruits for my sustenance. I love the activity itself. So, too, most of us have one or more hobbies that we will gladly pursue once work is no longer part of our lives.
