Forget Utopia — Here is the Best System of Governance

While it may seem presumptuous to argue that there is a single “best” system of governance, I believe that such can both be defined and attained.

First, we can discard as fantasies all notions of utopia. Utopian visions always manifest from someone’s vision of perfection. But what happens when real-world people in that society differ on important matters? As my ally David Jilk says, “Every utopia will eventually have a population of one.” Or else, it will morph into a dystopia.

Second, we can discard as insufficient all of the “isms”, including socialism, communism, capitalism, and certainly the various flavors of authoritarianism such as fascism. All are rooted in the allocation of scarcity. They do it in different ways; supporting different values.

Arguably, capitalism in several forms has become the dominant system on the planet. Even the “communists” of China used it to enable what they have today. Unlike communists, we do not envision any class struggle. We envision a gradual evolution of perceptions, as capitalism is ever more widely viewed as unnecessary, without the need for any coercion.
